Emerald Tea Tours started as a fun idea from Seán Thompson, who, with a bit of help (and plenty of taste-testing) from his family, dreamed up a way to share Wexford’s charm in a whole new way. The idea? An afternoon tea adventure on a double-decker bus, where you can sip, snack, and soak in Wexford’s best views all at once. Picture yourself with a fresh cuppa, a homemade scone, and rolling countryside passing by – not bad, right?
We’re all about keeping it local, too, so you’ll find the best of Wexford’s produce and flavours in every bite. From seasonal treats to fresh bakes, we make sure you get a real taste of the area. Each tour is a little journey through Wexford’s beauty and stories, with a good mix of tasty food, great scenery, and even better company. So, come on, hop on board and let’s take a ride through Wexford, one delicious bite at a time!
Our first bus, a Volvo Plaxton President, has a special place in our hearts and a name to match – Lady Patricia. Named after Seán’s grandmother, Lady Patricia carries a bit of family history and a dash of humour. The story goes that after Seán decided on the name, his dad shared a lovely memory: Seán’s grandmother, Patricia, used to travel along the Liffey on her way to work in Dublin. Every morning, she’d pass a Guinness boat called Lady Patricia and jokingly claim, “That’s my boat!” to her husband, Bill. A little inside joke turned family tradition. So in her memory we’ve named our first bus after her!
As fate would have it, after sharing the story of our bus’s name, we discovered from a friend that her father actually worked on the original Lady Patricia boat. Knowing that Lady Patricia has a bit of Dublin’s history woven into her story makes her all the more special to us. With this beautiful heritage, she’s the perfect bus to take our guests on a tour filled with heart, humour, and a touch of nostalgia.
